Darren Dunkley-Smith, unser internationaler Präsi, schreibt, was demnächst so
bei der ISAF diskutiert wird: ---------------------------------------------------------------- "Here is just some news from ISAF's November Meeting Agenda's. Red Card for Sailing ? The ISAF Executive Committee have asked the Events Committee to investigate the issuing of Red Cards to sailors that would see boats ineligible to sail in Continental, Olympic Qualifyers or World championships for the rest of the season. The President and the Executive is obviously concerned by Rule 42 infractions and are eager to tighten the rules even further regarding Pumping ,Ooching and Skulling. Their submission suggests that if a sailor is "penalised under RRS42 and received three yellow flags penalties in two separate events that competitor will be ineligible to enter the forthcoming World, Continental Championships, European and Olympic Qualification Events." Yellow Flag Penalities would be recorded from January 1st each year and once Banned the sailors would be out until the next January 1st. This is just one submission in over 200 that ISAF's committee's will consider at it's November Conference in Barcelona November 7th - 15th . The Events for 2008 Olympics... Bjorn Unger the Events Committee Chairman has submitted that the Events for the 2008 Olympics be left the same as for 2004. This would give a period of Peace among the classes and ISAF to consider the best Class options for the 2012 Games. The Women's Committee Chair, Sailing Committee Chairman and the Danish Sailing Association have submitted that a trial be held to choose a New (or the Same) single handed boat for the Women for 2008. The Danish also suggest that the Women's Double handed competition be sailed in a high performace boat.. (funny ! I thought it already was !!) Same Hull Shape for Games... The Chairman of the Sailing Committee has suggested that All of the Olympic classes be made from single plugs (as is the Laser, Mistral, Yngling and 49er now) in order to save money for teams and National Sailing Authorities buying different Manufacturers hulls for comparison. (Can you imagine Olympic Runners being forced to all use the same shoe ?) Olympic Format Discussion... Paul Henderson, the President of ISAF has (as usual) made many submissions and one inparticular is very interesting. He suggests that Sailors in Olympic Qualifiers and Olympic Games be made to carry the Last Race score to avoid teams dropping their last race by not sailing. Obviously this is to keep the interest in the event until the very end, but he also suggests that no more that 2 races be sailed in one day and to have 2 drop races to avoid teams loosing regattas thru gear failure in race 1 of a 3 race day. Mr Henderson also suggest that there be a 4 part purchace on main sheets to avoid pumping of sails and that sailors pumping the boom be outlawed as well. Henderson also wants the Olympic Classes to disclose how much they make from Worlds and Continental Championship Entry Fees. Denmark has also suggested that the Fleet Racing in the Olympic Regatta be used only to pick the top 6 boats that would go thru to a Knockout Final Series over 1 or 2 days with a 3 Boat Final series to decide the medals, suggesting that the system could be used for the 49ers in Athens in 2004. Coach Registration... The ISAF Executive plan to start a registration of Coaches , that will see a Database of coaches formed for better communication and responsibility. The Conference is sure to be interesting. Cheers For Now. Darren." ---------------------------------------------------------------- |
