Hi all,
I'm an italian sailor and I own a 470 Nautivela since one month. I can't speak German, so excuse me for writing in English. I've got many doubts and I think this forum could help me in finding the right ideas. The first doubt is about the cam cleat in front of the mast (the first one, not the one used for the jib cunningham); how does it work? The cam cleat I'm speaking about is visible in the picture called "DSCF0310.jpg" in the section "Technik" of your site, under the sub-section "Diverse Technikbeiträge". Thank you very much, cabal |

This cleat is used rarely, not everybody has it.
You will find a free black rope on the other side of the mast partners on that picture (http://470er.org/p_details/DSCF0310.JPG). You can use this rope together with the cleat to pull the mast forward (it is the opposite of the mast controller). You may want to do this in very light winds, when the pre-bend of the mast (without controller) is not enough to achieve a flat sail. That is at least what I was told .... :-) |

Thanks Kristof for the explanation.
Probably the precedent owner left the cleat but eliminated the attack to which the "black rope" fixed end should stay... Thanks again, Cabal |

On my boat that rope just goes into a hole and is fixed by a knot.

In fact that hole is covered!
